Default Replacement Part

Hello,

My bike is a 2005 883. I have a question about buying new clips for my battery cover. I have read about how bad they are, etc. Mine kept popping out allowing the battery cover to swing down. I was just going to buy new clips, but I have read that replacing them won't help and they will still pop out. Is this true? For the time being, I have been using zip ties. However, I got to thinking, if I ever need a jump, I will have to cut the zip ties, and will need new ties to put it back. I don't really want to have to carry zip ties around whenever I ride. Any alternatives to these clips, or will I be ok buying new clips?

As a side note, it also seems to me like the battery cover does not push in all the way. It feels like something it hitting it that wont allow me to push it in. The bracket that holds the battery has a harness on it, and I am assuming this is what is stopping it. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks

Apparently the clips were upgraded at some point, I have a loop of bailing wire as a safety on mine but it is loose and the clips have never undone on their own.
I'd try the new style clips but still have a safety of some sort, like I say I have a loose piece of bailing wire on mine that can just be untwisted in an emergency, if you want to still use zipties just tape an extra one to the back of the cover just in case.

The new clips are a definite improvement over what came stock on the earlier rubbermounts and worth installing. Also pay close attention to the wiring around and below the area of positive battery terminal, making sure it's tucked in tightly and is not pushing against the battery cover.
