Reduced Reach Forward Control Conversion Kit
#11
Thanks for this, how tall are you and inseam? Considering further forward mids or forward controls as well. I used to have a 1200C and was fine with forwards, feel a little cramped on the iron with mids... I'm 5'11", 31"inseam.
These controls are stock on the 1200T models. If your dealer has one go sit on it and see what you think.
My riding companion had a 1200T so I've road the bike a couple of 100 miles. I personally don't like the positioning, but I really don't like the 'mini floorboards'. Replacing them with regular foot pegs may make a difference.
I do think you get a little more cornering clearance with the forward mids.

Just a follow-up post for those who subscribed... I spoke with a HD service specialist whom I trust and isn't about trying to get my buy anything (oddly enough). And she's about my height, and weighs less, and said the reduced reach forwards will definitely provide a bit more stability with balance, and comfort.
If I learn more, I'll keep sharing.

I put these controls on my 2010 1200 L sportsters. The bike originally came with mid controls; the previous owner changed them out to forward controls. When i bought the bike, i had a hard time reaching the forwards even with a super reduced reach seat i put on the bike. I'm 5'2 with a 28 inch inseam. I put bought the modified kit because the previous owner didn't take the mid control parts back from the dealer and i didn't want to spend the extra money. The thing i didin't like about the modifed kit is that the brake pedal is too high for me. if it was laid back at a angle, maybe 2 inches, it would be more comfortable. It is painful in my shin. HOwever, because i don't have the tools to go back to the forward controls i have since gotten used to it. But if i had to do it again, I would have gone straignht to the mids.

I got these installed on my bike before I left The dealer the first day I picked up my bike. I'm 5'5 and have a 29" inseam. They are perfect and match my setup very well. I'm more comfortable on the bike and have since changed my handlebars and seat as well to perfect my "cockpit" :-) It's been 2 years and no issues thus far, very good build quality.

Can you use the reduced reach kit with Vance & Hines Short Shots installed on the bike ? I've got a 2006 Dyna Super Glide that I bought with forward controls on it. I'm 5'7" with a 29/30 inseam and it's just a little bit of a reach. I think the inch or so plus the reduced reach kit would be just right for me, just not sure if it's made for stock pipes only.

Installed these and they're great.
I just installed these on my '06 Dyna Super Glide, and they're perfect. Moved the controls and pegs up just enough to make it feel natural and not a stretch. Easy install other than the damn Torx bolts HD insists on using, make sure you have proper tools.
