According to the links, 2016 has 0.5" shorter wheelbase and 3.8" less overall length. On the other hand, the rake has been increased by 0.2 degrees, which would have increased the wheelbase, not shorten it. Therefore, if the numbers are correct, the only way for it to make sense is for them to have used a new frame.

Seems like they used a new triple clamp that has more forward angle and that has increased the trail by 1.1".

I think the numbers change hourly.

If the frame is shorter, then switching tanks and seats might be a issue. The '16 is 2 pounds lighter, so something happened.

I'll take a tape measure with me when I test ride it.

Yeah, I am taking my tape measure if go to the dealer.

The 2 pounds could be the alloy wheels tho.

And it looses a little rake and GAINS a little trail which should make handle a little better. What I like about it is its front end, 49mm forks! I have no intention of buying a new one but may look into getting the forks and triple clamps.
yeah those forks are hot! you do it first lol

Maybe they weighed it right after it’s morning dump.

I think it’s awesome, the 49mm front end will be a great improvement. I still miss miss my sporty, this is tempting!

Lighter is better obviously, but I like the looks of laced wheels better.

I was at the dealer today and I must say I wish they would have put the 49mm forks on the 2012. I love the looks and from just sitting on it, holding the front brake and shoving it forward, it is much harder to make it dip than my 2012. After seeing the wheels in person, they do look odd on the 48 but it wouldn't be a deal breaker.

I asked about getting the forks, triples and the fork brace for my 2012 and they said it should work because the frame is the same, but would be expensive. After seeing that post of how much they cost, I will just keep the forks I have and upgrade the springs. The dealer also said that if I were to switch the forks that I may need another front wheel. Does this sound right to anyone here? Another thing I noticed, the front tire doesn't look as fat with the beefier forks. I really dig the tank badge.

Overall I think they did well with the functional upgrades they made. I didn't really like the exhaust but again it would not be a deal breaker for me as I would eventually swap it out if I bought one.

Did it look like the bike is almost 4" shorter? If the frame is the same where is coming from? Or did they just a mistake in their 2016 descriptions.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you find the prices for the forks? Just curious.
