LOL, that almost always happen to me. Never hurts to get more of that dirty oil out.

By the way. When you wash your bike, don't spray around the oil cap. You could be getting water in there from that.

I had an 07 low that was noisy as hell, if I remember correctly within that time period Harley had two recalls for the pumps. It depended on what part number was on it. I think if the last letter was an A or a B, those were the bad ones, but I'm not certain. Now as for the 09 Nightster that I have now the noise is minimal compared to the 07.

Mine whines when it is priming - only for a second or two.

I'm going to be listening to your top end rattle today to compare to mine

Sounded the same as mine, so as I say they are either both okay or both f****d!

Also depending on your intake and if you end up riding in the rain, you should always check your oil for water after that as well. I've gotten in a couple heavy storms on my bike and I change the oil just in case I sucked in water. Its so easy with my intake so I feel its better to be safe than sorry.

I get that every time I change mine as mainly do short trips so get a condensation build up. My first oil change was twice as bad as your muck so I try to do some longer rides and walk to work as only 1.5 miles. I asked same question as you at the time and was also told its normal and takes about 30 miles to burn condensation off.
