Humour my paranoia please. My Iron just passed 10k miles, so I've serviced it.
When draining the oil, some brown muck came out initially, which I assume was what was in the drain tube?
Also when i removed the primary oil drain plug the magnetic bit had some swarf on there?
Is all of this normal?

I don't like the look of the brown substance in the pan. Looks like when you have water that has mixed with the oil. What kind of oil was in there previously? Since your ride is not water cooled obviously, I would take a close look at the oil fill cap and make sure that the rubber ring is okay not allowing any water to slip by at the cap.

When i pulled the drain plug that was what came out initially followed by the engine oil.
I don't know what oil was in there as it came to me with it in as i'm teh 2nd owner, but it was previously serviced by a Harley dealer, so I guess whatever they use?
Good call. I'll check that seal, thanks.

That milky stuff could just be condensation. If you do a lot of small rides. Like to work and back. Your oil doesn't get hot enough to burn off all the condensation.
So if that's what it is.....its normal.
The stuff on the primary drain plug is normal too. It's just worn clutch material. Now if you see metal chunks there. Then it's not normal.
