Default Fitting Saddlebags 2007 1200c

So my saddle bags finally came in they are 13x5x11 and they have tiedowns, but without the chrome saddle support where do I tie down the saddle bags? Sorry first saddle bags and I want to make sure I install them correctly.

Just so I understand I throw them under the seat, and then have the tiedowns in front, and then I put the tiedowns onto what part of the bike? Or, should I just get the chrome bag support that H-D sells? Thanks for any help.

You can get the support bracket that HD sells, or you can order an aftermarket set from J&P, and probably other places too. J&P Cycles is a well known vendor of non HD brand HD parts and accessories.

http://www.jpcycles.com is just one place to look.

Good luck.

I have an 06 XL1200C and had the same questions as you when I bought my first bags. I tried to find a set of supports that did not require me to relocate the rear signals. The only set I found was on ebay and I didn't like the looks of them. The HD ones require you to relocate your rear signals. I don't use supports at all. I just tie the rear of the bags to the rear signals. I don't tie the front down.

I have a set of tourmasters for my 06 1200C and just tie em down around the turn signals and around the frame behind the batt/ and oil tank covers. They just rest against the shocks. Some folks also tie them off on the passenger peg mounts.

I had the same prblm. with mine on my 1200C, got tourmaster bags, i fabricated a little metal ring & nylon strap drilled a small hole at the lower front of bag fastened it with a chrome screw, and use a zip tie to anchor it to the swing arm and took the supplied straps hooked them together and run them behind the shock, worked great for me. I also made a half moon hole right where the top of the shock hits the bag strap. hope mabye this will help.

Here's some pics of mine detailing the tie downs on my tourmaster slants.....

Front strap around frame behind side cover....

Rear strap around turn signal...

Side view...

Use some rubber shelf liner or something under the yoke as it will scratch up your fender.

Thanks, capttawes, those pictures detailed much more and made me realize I didn't quite have a grasp of what was told to me by the others. Thanks for taking the time to do that. I appreciate yours, and everyone else's help with this. I had to shelve my bike now for 3 days because of the fear of rain/snow in my ares. Damn, weather.com said rain/snow showers around 3PM but there was nothing. I could've rode my bike to work with no problem.... grrrr I hate being at the mercy of mother nature.

I've got an 06 which has an ECM under the seat though probably not in the same location as yours since its fuel inj. but I have an idea that it shuod not be in the way for throwovers.
