I chose the Iron because I don't like chrome. Get what makes you happy.

Default good luck on your choice

Look get what you can see making you happy. I ride my iron 883 with my wife on occasion I weigh about 210 and she is some were around 130's we have no problem around town. never had any power issues. You can also custom out your bike over time with either bike but black is black and look awesome

Multiple test rides this weeked at 3 dealers. 1 bad ride with smoke coming off the engine. 3 really good ones. I road 2 883s a couple of 1200 customs and a dyna. The Dyna had more power but I really love the fit of the 1200 customs. The last dealer wants to put me on a new 2015 1200 custom they have left over. It had 6 miles on it and I put 20 on it. Still thinking it over but gave the a down payment just in case.

I've had both...Iron looks great, but 1200 Custom (with just a few accessories) is a much better all-around Sporty.

Rock the custom, bro.

I'll bet it's pretty rare that somebody twists the throttles of an 883 and 1200, and don't choose the 1200.

I think I screwed up the original question and have confused the thread...

I already have an Iron, wouldn't have anything else it's my dream bike - but I was curious about if/when I convert to 1200, does it bring it online with the bigger sporties or do they out-spec it in other ways?

The frame is identical I assume, but do the 1200s have better suspension / brakes / cams / transmission etc or is it just the engine displacement?

If I did the upgrade, I'd want to bring everything up to spec that's all...

If you do the 1200 upgrade, then you'll just have a bigger engine. If you buy a factory 1200, you'll get the bigger engine, different tranny, and I'm not sure about the cams. But I'm pretty sure the frame, suspension, brakes, all of that is all the same between the 883 and the 1200.
