New menmber from Manor Texas
I am new to Harley motorcycles. I just bought 2 from a friend of a friend. A 2002 883 sportster and a 2000 1200 Sportster. It was my idea to get them fix the 883 up sell it and not be into the 1200 for much. 883 cleaned up well and backfired out the carb. I trolled and fixed it by replacing the 3 manifold gaskets. Runs good and got $3000 for the 883. Now the 1200 looks like it was laid down while it was sitting outside under a car port. After new battery, testing the coil, (swapped with 883) was leaning to the ignition module. Looked at it to find it was a Twin Tec. Went to their site and was directed to bank angle sensor. I grounded the sensor and the bike started. It was running fine for about a minute and it shut off like I hit the kill switch. Now the start button does nothing. All the lights are on, no clicking from the starter. I am guessing a grounding issue. But I don't know where to start. I am hoping that with what I am going through will help others.

Welcome to teh forum.
These bikes are pretty notorious for vibrating their battery leads loose. If you haven't done it already I'd check the ground lead from the battery where it attaches to the frame. I'm sure someone more knowledgable will be along with some more in depth information shortly...
