Default Need Help for Sportster Saddlebag Supports!

Good morning everyone

I own a 2006 Sportster roadster and recently purchased saddlebags. I purchased the HD saddlebag support kit, part number 90799-94 and ran into serious problems. I was wondering if anyone else has run into problems or knows the tricks with this kit.

The problem is it starts by saying "remove upper absorber NUT, washer and shock cover" Problem is every single sportster I have seen does not have a nut, it has a bolt on the upper shock absorber, and this kit thinks there is a stud and nut in place of the original bolt.

Anyone know what to do other than return the kit for a refund?

Thanks in advance

29 views and no one has an opinion or has run into this problem with these brackets?

I don't have the supports as I just rest my bags against the shocks for no more than I use them. I would imagine that you just need a longer bolt to go through the supports andthe shock into the frame. You could always ask the dealer if its missing something or just go buy a longer bolt.

No idea, I purchased the saddlebags from HD. Could it be possible that there are parts missing or they gave you the wrong part. If you cant get to the dealer call the HD tech support line and they will help you out.

Thanks guys, that is exactly what it was. They sold me one that was 2 versions BEFORE what I needed.

I appreciate the input and plan to post here more often
