The key chain tube seems to be a good idea...where do you get those. I hesitate to keep the documents on the bike since there is no secure place. I always keep it on my person to avoid potential ID theft (personal information including your home address) and bike thefts. We are also required to have/show a hardcopy when being pulled over so carrying registration/insurance/safety inspection in stuff (ie riding jacket, wallet, key chain tube) ensures you will have it when needed IMHO.

Both motorcycle registration cards and both insurance cards in a ziploc bag inside my motorcycle jacket inside zipper pocket. I always wear the jacket and nobody else rides either bike.
Driver license with credit card, med insurance card etc in my front pants pocket. Also a printed list of important phone numbers of family etc.
In Virginia the vehicle registration is required to be in the vehicle while operated.
Police always ask for registration and driver license, sometimes insurance.

Is there already a thread somewhere on prudent behavior if stopped by police?

I bought this and I love it. Nice tight fit when it's closed and I have had no issues.
I just put my paperwork in a baggie and the stuff it in the box. If I'm ever going to leave my bike for a while, I'll just pull the stuff out. It's got a decent lock but of course anyone can get in if they really wanted to.

I have never carried a registration in any vehicle and never had an issue with them calling in the plate. Insurance is legal in oh on an electronic device i.e. smart phone and i always have my opperators license. As long as the plates insurance are up to date and the opperator has the proper endorcement i can't see there being much of an issue.

I have a sandwich size Ziplock bag in my jacket pocket, and I never ride without my jacket. It has registration, insurance card, and some emergency contact info. I also carry a DPA with my medical directives. One never knows...
