Custom CNC Derby Cover
Many Thanks to Mike aka 'ProbablyLegendary' for providing me a great Derby Cover for my 48 to engrave.
I first painted it with green primer to provide a good scanning surface and scanned it with a NextEngine 3D scanner. Then surfaced it and imported into Solidworks. After some fiddling setting up my planes and axis I was able to use HSMWorks SolidWorks plug in to toolpath using their project tool path feature.
This let me project a 2D dxf file of the EGA onto the curved surface.
I then cut it with a 30 deg engraving bit.
The next step is to paint the engraving and polish the outer face. I'll update with a final pic when done.

Sorry for the resurrection, but did you create the EGA file?
Just curious as I created and uploaded this solid model to grabcad back in 2012:

Either way, it looks great on there!
