I ride pretty hard in the twisties and I really grind down my peg feelers. My current pegs are just getting worn out so I'm hoping to upgrade to a nicer peg. More durable or comfortable, both preferred. Currently using stock iron pegs.

Having a hard time finding any pegs that have a ground feeler on them. I'd like ones in black too.

The first thing I have done on getting a new bike home is to remove those darned silly 'feelers'! Why ride with them on, they are a 'safety' hazard IMHO?! The nicer pegs I have on my SuperLow are off the XR1200, #33134-07CAZ and #33135-07CAZ (left and right hand). They are painted black, with a rubber top, which is replaceable. Much neater than the clunky great things it came with stock.

 

100% agree with you on that silly "feeler" thing on the newer pegs. They are a safety hazard IMHO. My bike didn't come with them but I rode one of my friends which had them and it scared the sh*t out of me! I ride with Sports Bikes almost 90% of the times now and can say it has turned me into an aggressive rider in the twisties scrapping and grinding stuff all the time. Personally I could never see myself riding comfortably with those feeler thingies.

OP - Try riding without them and you will realize you can have a better lean angle.

 

the feelers arent a safety hazard if your pegs are installed correctly (kinda hard to mess this up on most mounts) at ~135\45 degrees. the pegs should move away from the ground and the feelers should break off if over stressed, should...

OP: i have about 4 sets of stock rubber pegs w/o feelers. you are welcome to them. i'm cleaning out my garage anyway... take them. don't buy new pegs.

Mine have never been a safety hazard. I'd rather replace a feeler than a whole peg. I've ground down my left side feeler quite a lot.

you could raise the bike a bit to get more clearance, but you'll probably just lean deeper.

I already raised the front a small amount and changed to 13" rear shocks. Then I cut the tips of my heat shields off so I could lean farther.

Yeah I don't get the safety hazard some people claim either. I've ground mine pretty hard a many times to point that my bud says I was leaving a nice river of sparks behind me. And it never unsettled the bike or made me lose control. It is a bit loud & scares ya the 1st time you do it but after that it just lets ya know you getting all you can out of her.

 

I found them to be really annoying so I swapped them out for RSD pegs
