Hi All, My newbie son recently purchased a 96 sportster S 1200 that needs some work - he had no idea how tough it would be.

Unfortunately someone tried to make it into a cafe racer ( we guess ) and literally cut off the speedo, turn signals and horn among other stuff...

We were finally able to get the turn signals to work, but not flash, he then added LED's - wondering where / how to add the needed load resisters and what resistance and wattage.

We also will try and hook up a speedo, problem is he has purchased and returned a couple different units - one seemed close but the orange connector has the correct number of pins but was slightly a different size. We have no idea what the orig speedo looked like - there seems to be different versions. If need I can take a pic of the remaining connector.

He has called local Harley dealers and they just say good luck, lots of stuff on the net, but they are all universal without directions or wiring diagrams.

Was hoping someone can lead us to a fix - or even a universal kit that works, and a newbie can install. My goal is to get it inspected, even if we need to wire new stuff up non-stock just to make it work.

think we figured out the turn signal dilemma, we will just add a relay in series with each bulb.

Last question - had anyone added an aftermarket speedometer ? wondering what pulse is sent from the sensor, worst case we will hook up something just to pass inspection, guessing that they will not check the accuracy during a PA inspection, and just remove the new speedo and use our phone app ( Waze ) showing the speed limit - in place of the speedo, which we both prefer...
