The tank looks just about as big as the tank on my Dyna. I think when put together tastefully the tank will look fine on the sportster. My opinion was the Peanut tank and sportster just belong together. My wife has been after me to change hers out to the 4.5 gallon tank so I finally agreed. You'll be able to see pictures as I'm documenting the build here in the sportster section, titled-FLS front end on sportster. I mocked up the tank yesterday to install the above badges with pictures in my build thread. FYI i tried to set the stock seat on--and no way will it fit. You Have to get a seat designed for a 4.5 tank. Some say you can modify the peanut seat--but I don't know.

I swapped my 3.3 for a 4.5 and I think it makes the bike look lower and "flows" better. Apart from having to change the seat, no other mods were necessary.

Hey OP- just thought I'd follow up in case your not following my FL sportster build. 4.5 gal swap complete. Removed conduit and relocated ignition and coil to left side of bike with DK customs relocation kit and wrapped wire harness with F4 tape found on amazon. I think removal of conduit really looks sharp.

Not to be a smart a.. but usually you will have better luck asking additional questions in a new fresh thread instead of resurecting a several year old thread.

Harley even sells an installation kit for a custom tank install(harley 4.5) and the instructions mention need to run a seat designed for the swap.

I'm waiting for her to design a custom seat on the mustang seat web site designed to work with the 4.5gal tank. I've ordered these tank nameplates to replace the ones currently on the tank.

That will be the easy mod-next mod is to install FL softail front end and 16x3 wheel up front and some led sled foot boards-it'll be a sportster slim?(FAT maybe).
Where did you get the tank may I ask?
