it is amazing! the brightness period is mind blowing but, the little wedges are fantastic. even in slight position changes and lane changes it's noticeable. when turning on/off my canopy road, it brightens the direction of the turn. i'm not explaining it well but, the videos do not do these things justice because it's really hard to capture the value without a vr/360 type of experience.
the "wedges" come on as you lean. you don't really notice the edges/box shapes below on the road:
level
left lean
right lean
the wedges are really noticeable against the garage or cars in traffic, on roads the fade as the cone of light widens.
i think the next generation will offer more little "D" leds and the wedge will transition more smoothly.
i am blown away and don't even feel bad about the cost or breaking my long held disdain for sealed units. i really feel that the first gen 5 3/4 daymaker (jw made for hd) was not that great and had issues. so did HD and JW soo we got the the 5 bubble 5 3/4 daymaker to replace it. that one was way better. i still wasn't with it because of failures and not being able to fix on the road. the no road fix is still an issue here but, i'm getting more value for the bacon. extra 150 gets me a brighter light and cool/useful cornering improvement/safety from vile deers, dillos, drunks, and other things hiding in the darkness.
happy as a clam. just have to buy another to leave in the sporty. $$$

install question
I see in your picture the headlight has a notch in the bracket at about 4 o'clock...but the light doesn't have a corresponding "plug". What keeps the light from spinning out of vertical?

i think you are talking about this picture. The unit is shaped just like the standard assembly that sits in there with the H4 bulb and held in by friction/pressure from the trim ring. no movement.
i don't think there is a wedge in that spot on the standard assembly... i could be 100% wrong.. never actually looked. edit: and i am wrong #egofreezone
looked here and found it:

i have no answers lol

Good review cvaria, thanks for posting. I seen the 7" version when it was first released and can appreciate the entire concept. I figured this would have to be the ultimate LED headlamp in that they still offer the cut-out to avoid blinding oncoming traffic, yet have the side lights come on in the lean to fill in the otherwise blind spot common of others. It's just so hard to drop that kind of cash on a damn headlight. But glad you had the Huevos to do it.
Now as many of us wait a few years for the price to come down, you can hopefully keep us posted on it's longevity. I doubt there will be any issues with the LEDs being that they typically last much longer than standard bulbs. But these of course have much more electronics that all others.
Very Cool

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_saca...adlight&_frs=1
I personally have this one:

Not saying these are the best. but i have used the Chinese off road led's on my truck and dirt bike they very very good for the price.

my #1 fear is a failure on a long trip. i'm not sweating that here. this light will be moving to the dyna next week. i'm thinking i'll put it back on the sporty though. i really like it.
price... yeah.. it's a lot my z4's headlights were 1000 each and the bulbs are 150 each retail (i'll never pay that). i'm ok with it.
the price will come down and there is a 8690 M with the super bright light as well. it's 350. that's still less than the HD daymaker that HD gets from jw speaker and marks up: http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...11-67700145--1
