I finally got out for a good break in ride today. Had the bike for a couple of weeks but hadn't got around to putting it on the insurance and finish some set up changes.

Put on a vintage HD shield off of a 94 Springer, solo HD seat, removed the passenger pegs and brackets ( five pounds) replaced front pegs with smaller lighter Vrod pegs, removed all the heat shields and set the rear shocks for a 220 lb rider.

Then one fun mod. Installed a bottle opener on the right side of the rear fender bracket. Hey! You never know when you need one.

I rode it the 18 miles from the dealer. Now I got in a good 131 mile ride. I rode it per HD instructions. Not over 50 mph the first 50 miles and not over 3K rpm after that. Speed limit on state roads here is 55 mph. It was a windy day and I filled up at 131 miles with 2.3 gallons. Holy crap that was over 57 mpg on a tight engine!

The ride was harsh so I will dial the rear shocks down to a 160 lb rider and see how that goes. At 6'3" and 75 years of age I may look out of place on the Roadster but it is a great handling bike and it did feel like there is more pep in it compared to the two XL1200's that I have had. Very precise tacking in the wind and bumpy turns.

Three projects left to complete it. An engine guard, oil cooler and I will add some sort of breather from DK Customs.

No pics yet but will add as soon as I take one. Have to find where I put the camera first.

.
They way I see it, when your name is on the registration it's the only look that matters (at least that's what I tell myself).

For mine they didn't need to do anything, luckily the bars fit.

I just straightened the metal part. I hate this one piece HD brakes. I just switch my drag bar to tracker bar and it is really stretched but it works.

I love those bars! I've been checking them out, why didn't you run the wires internal?! Would look sweet.

What are the risers you're using?

OK guys it seems that to stop the rear brake squeal, either have the dealer replaced the rear pads or if you're a DIY-er just pull the pads and bevel the edge, ie sand the edges down a bit and it will stop the squeal.

looked at the first one in denmark yesterday, must say the fitting off the rear fender looks pants, the frame is wider then the fender and they just bend the ends to screw i on.
it just looks unfinish on the rear, very disapointet. the grey and black on the engine looks better then what i thought.
