Default 2013 XL1200C New Tire Help - Please...

Need new front and rear tire.

Front OEM is 130/90 B16
Rear OEM is 150/80 B16

Dunlop website shows I can use a MT90B16 for front. Some of the Dunlop model types don't list the 130/90 B16 but when I enter my bike info into the website the tire comes up as MT90B16. Is this right?

Looking at Dunlop American Elites and or Elite 4's. I like the MT compounds and that technology that Dunlop offers.

Confused as to why I see a front and rear designated tires that have the same P/N MT90B16 on some sites. I don't understand. Dunlop site says the MT technology is for the rear to give longer tread life. So can I put one of these MT types on my front rim?

Can someone explain/help?

End of this month I lose the $40.00 rebate offers so I want to order quick.

Thanks!!!

Don't confuse MT Tech with Alpha Sizing...MT=130

I just turned 6400 miles. Bought it with 3 on it. In PA we have tar and chip roads that eat tires. I'd prolly be able to get another 1000 or 1500 out them - maybe 2K. I'm averaging 800 miles a month. Just don't want to be having the bike in the shop during the summer months in PA while riding season is at it's peak. Add the fact that the bike is due for 5K maintenance and inspection so I'll save with my indy labor rate if he does more at once. Plus the $40 rebate is over end of this month.

As they say timing is everything...

I just had him order the American Elites per the MT front size and the 150 rear. I had e-mailed Dunlop and they confirmed the sizes. Hoping to get more out of them vs. the OEM Mich/Scorc's that came on the bike.

THANKS for the help!!!

Not the stock garbage Dunlops of 2006 that were on my UC when I got it.

I have the Elite3's on my bagger now and the tires look new in about 5K on them. I had MCII's on it before the E3's and got 10K on the rear before it got cupp'd. The front would have gone maybe another 2K but I like to change them in pairs. I put the MCII's on the bagger when I took off the OEM crap. AND yea I'm meticulous about air pressure and I'm a light weight and ride very conservatively. SO to me if a tire gets wiped out quick its either crap or a combo of how PA roads wear them a lot faster than other states. I'da never got anywhere near 15K on my rear MCII and I have read and read about folks getting 18K. Not in Eastern PA...

My 2013 has 31's on front and rear from the factory. Not that I don't like the Mich brand...it's been a safe tire on the Sportie and when I had them on my bagger. Never felt unsafe in dry or rain. I just want higher mileage count. OR in PA I need a tire that puts up more with the rough chipp'd roads we have. Since the Dunlops have that harder center compounds though I'd give them a try on the smaller bike. Thus far the E3's on my bagger are riding super and I feel the same safety. Wear seems very low.

Guess I'll see...

THANKS!

"Customs" went to a 16" front wheel with Mid-glide forks in 2011

Tell the truth I've not run a ruler across the front tire. AND I took for granite that the "31" marking on the Mich/Scor OEM tire meant that it is 31". I do know my front and rear rims are 16" however.

Either way, I appreciate the help from the members!!! And I did go ahead and pulled the trigger on the tires. Got my rebate sent in this morning on Dunlops site, so no snailmail...but it'll be likely 8 weeks for the Visa card to show up with the rebate $. Next week the Sportie heads in for the tires/insp/5K maint plus just a good over all check up. Can't wait to see and feel the new tires.

It really is a fun bike to rip around on...BUT aren't they all!?!?

THANKS AGAIN!

Ahh...did not know that. I should have bought a 2011 C instead of a 2011 L just for the mid-glide.
