Anyone on here change their oil at 2500 miles?
Just been reading on a Facebook page that a lot of owners change their oil at 2500 miles and not the 5000 miles that Harley schedule. As has been said, oil is cheap, so I can sort of understand it, especially if its dino oil, but i'm sure a full ester synthetic would be fine for 5k even in daily use in hot temps in traffic etc.
So I just wondered if any or many of you guys change at 2500? Actually I'll do a poll.

Mr T, stop reading the internet - it's bad for your health! Harleys used to have 2,500 mile service intervals, including my Glide and Buell, but like the rest of the vehicle industry, manufacturing and oil technologies have moved on. So don't waste your time and money by doing stuff unnecessarily! Ride and enjoy your extended service life......

Synthetic oil @ 5000mi/8000km intervals max. I co-ordinate intervals so that a complete change is done just before winter storage. If, for example, I have a 5000 mi change coming up early October, I may change in September if my projected mileage would put my next oil change at late October/early November. I run the Autumn change oil from spring startup to the next (mileage) scheduled interval, not the odometer.
This is actually more complicated to type out than to do . I just optimize oil service time, as best I can within our short season, without exceeding service manual intervals.

Oh and I'm not changing my service schedule as I use a full ester synth which I believe can more than cope with what I do. I'm just new to Harleys and like finding out about people's how tos, why nots and dont evers!
