How are these lights working for anyone with the newer Canbus system? I asked Kevin about it and he said it handles it 99.5% of the time but can generate an error code, but haven't had a chance to talk to him about the details.

Thanks

Thanks
turning on highbeam with throw a code and a red led. nothing to sweat, goes away after you turn the bike off.

So...everything works fine until you hit the hight beam. Then a code is thrown and a red LED. Can you give a little more details on this. How do you tell a code is thrown...does a code number come up on the dash or something? Also, where is the red led show up at?

Does it hurt to ride the bike at all if there is a code thrown and you are still riding it? Does the headlight still work if a code is thrown?

And everything resets when you shut it off?

Sorry for the dumb questions. I am wanting to go with this light, but want to know all the details before i jump into it.

bike's ecm expects to see x level of draw. led draws less than x. bike 's ecm thinks there is and issue because the led is drawing below x. bike's ecm then warns the owner via red led (the bulb throws no codes on my 2007), letting owner know there are diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) codes in the ecm's memory for retrieval.

codes stay in ecm memory until retrieved and cleared. because why would they go away.. how would you know the bike found a problem?

DTC codes... (for newer bikes, substitute "odometer" button with "trip" button)

see here:

.... get a service/e. diagnostic manual, will save you a ton of money

does no damage. just buy the bulb, stop over thinking it (said before). i gain nothing from you buying from DK and i am not out to see that the world burns.

I guess it's time to order one! Thanks for the info and thanks to the OP for starting this thread. Greatly appreciated as I had been wondering just how much improvement it has over stock. Thanks again!

I took the DK LED out and cleaned the inside of the bulb and the reflector with a micro fiber rag and windex. That made a big difference, got rid of nearly all the foggy look I reported. Wrapped a pencil with the rag. The reflector coating looks real thin so be careful not to scratch it or even rub it too hard. Even without the LED on the glass looks clean now. I have not experienced any codes thrown.
