I think I need a '99-'03 fender, unfortunately. New ones are pretty cheap, though, and I can even get one that isn't pre-drilled for a seat for a cleaner look.

I had a couple hours to work on the bike this evening. I did some more polishing, and installed my new timer cover. I love it, I think it really works with the look I'm going for with the bike. I might weld nuts onto the back side of the timer cover backing plate...two or three threads holding that thing on doesn't sit well with me, and I didn't feel comfortable really torquing down the screws. I hope they don't rattle/fall off, even though they have threadlocker on them. The brake install is almost done, pending pedal setup. Still not sure what orientation I want it in...either almost flat, or my foot underneath it until it's needed. We'll see. It doesn't have a very long stroke, so I don't have to worry about it hitting the muffler. I also need to pick up some longer hex sockets to remove the forward controls. I have a lot more cleaning and polishing ahead of me tomorrow, but I don't think I did too bad for a weeknight.

Not much progress tonight. I did get the headers bolted back up and I decided on the angle of my brake pedal, but I got sidetracked polishing all of the aluminum and chrome on this side of the engine. Here's a before and after of the pushrod tubes:
I was really happy that all of the pitting came out. Just a little more cleanup tomorrow before I can button up that side and call it done before doing the same on the other side of the bike...

Good to know, thanks! I actually have some for polishing hard-to-reach areas. I was planning on using spray wax over the polished parts. I think once I get it nice and clean, it'll be much easier to keep it nice and clean.
