Default How much blow-by is acceptable for a new engine?

I understand that I'm going to have some regardless of how new the engine is but at 2300 miles, I seem to be getting quite a bit.

It's to the point I have to wipe underneath the air filter after each ride before it drips onto my exhaust. Hell I hadn't even rode it today, got home from work and there was a drip of oil about to fall onto the pipe. Had to wipe it.

Is this normal?

Plan on routing it to a filter.

Where is your oil level on your dip stick?? Anything over the half way mark and you will get a lot of blowby.

It isn't blow-by in the true sense, which means leakage past the pistons, it's oil from the breather system.

Oil level is in the middle of the low/full marks. Didn't think about it being from the a/c which is probably what it is since it looks like pure oil.

On warranty?
Get a dealership inspection and record.

You should not get a drip.
If DIY:
Remove the air filter and clean out any oil also cleaning the intake tract.
(Might even need a new air filter)
Trace the lines looking for a kink, crack etc that maybe causing the issue.
Ensure oil level is correct...yes half way (even a little lower) is correct...follow the manual directions.

I believe DK Customs parts makes a bypass for air filter that vent this oil to the ground instead of the intake. If you have an aftermarket air filter their product will work. OEM Ham Can filter I am not so sure.

With a drip, I would concur with above that your oil is overfilled.
Yet 2300 miles, get a dealer inspection.

Good luck.

Just do a bypass from the A/C and move on with this common problem. Send a line to the bottom for the drip and forget about it. I don't use any filter or catch cans on the line. Been doing that for years already for all my Harley rides. You can do it yourself or get a kit from DK. Your motor will love you for that.

Not trying to hijack here but figure it's a good place to ask this; Is there any way to use an external breather system when using HD's Heavy Breather (yeah I know everyone thinks it's ugly but I already own it)? I see the benefit of using a system like this just not sure it's possible with the A/C I decided to go with. It has these 2 chrome "caps" that cover the breather bolts, which I'm sure most already knew this.
