Was planning a top end build this winter....Doing some research on parts and found it may have came w 1 of 2 different lifters.
Some 1989 883's have a large roller and won't work, check your lifters prior to ordering.
Can this be checked by vin?? Or is disassembly the only option?

I can't confirm that difference, your model year uses #18523-86B 'TAPPET w/roller', which tells us that part was introduced in 1986 and was also used the following year. Try another supplier?!
