Default Troubleshooting help

Hello fellow riders / better wrenchers...
I have an '05 sportster 1200c that I just got last spring. It was a demo and had about 1000 miles on it when I purchased it. It now has about 6000 on it.
Last week I noticed that the engine light was coming on and off - a liitle research and I discovered the error code P0563. I cleared the error and all seemed good. Then... the other day I was all packed up for a weekend trip, got to the local gas station, filled up, went to start the bike and got a "click click", tried again "click click" - then the whole panel went dark. I check my battery terminals -clean / tight. Checked all my fuses - all good. Eventually I just pop started the bike, it ran fine. About 4 or 5 starts later it did the same thing. Now the only way to start it is the pop start. I just pulled off engine error codes 61006/61007 and the same 0563.
My battery is only a year old and I had it plugged into a conditioner all winter in a 'warmer than outside garage'.
Any one have experience with this type of issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
-dave

P0563 is battery low code, the first thing I would check is the alternator output. Do you have a multi-meter? Hook it up to the battery terminals, it should read about 13.5-14.2 volt at idle if the alternator is charging. Do that first and go from there.

Checking the alternator was what I thought for a start also. But...it's an 05. When was it first sold? The crappy 2 year warranty is good for any buyer up to 2 years after the original sale date.

Two years is a pretty typical life expectancy for the battery and that sounds like it may be your problem.

Don't be surprised, I have seen battery failed on my buddy's new 883C the third month. [:@]

Funny thing is I have the same intermintant problem. I checked battery, alternator, fuses, wiring, starter. Myself and 3 mechanics could not find the problem but found the solution. when you are sitting on your bike and get the click click shake it a couple of times(the whole bike) and try again. Works every time for me.

My buddy's has similar problem, it happens once in a while, he found a bad battery terminal base, took it to the dealer 3 times, didn't show, dealer cannot replace the battery until it happens. He end up buying a new battery, money out of his pocket. [:@]
