The reality in my experience is that other things happen, such as fitting a new tyre, new brake pads, etc. Actually adjusting the belt is not often, more likely a case of setting tension after maintenance that involved removing the wheel.

Mine has 50 K on it and it's been adjusted once but the chrome is gone off my rear pulley and it has a worn orange peel look from a lot of concrete grooved road grit. The primary steel chain manual adjuster has been move one notch.

I took my belt guards off at 10k to discover my rear sprocket looked like this!

The gift of a missing belt guard.

Mine is at 18k+... looks great. That worn chrome chipping /will eventually destroy the belt from the inside. Plan for a new pulley/belt.

When the hard chrome goes, that's what happens. Doubt you will make it cross-country. I stay local, so I'm driving it till I have I have to call son for a trailer tow. Mine looks good compared to yours. You must grind gravel if you did that in 10K..

That looks horrible. Do you hear the rocks that you are grinding up in that pulley?

Figured as much. Between service checks and replacement of rear tire I think I could go forever without having to adjust myself but it's good to know it's still in spec. I might get one of those 10LB tools.

Red face

Mr T that does look awful old chap. I haven't seen any of my five belt-drive bikes do that. Is it really that bad in Essex?!
