Default Seat or seat pad?

Have a 2009 1200xl sportster need to get a more comfortable seat or seat pad. For some reason this year when i ride the bike more then 5 miles and i get off it my tail bone hurts. Was looking into gel filled seat pads which would be cheaper then replacing the seat. Anyone use a gel filled seat pad and if so how good are they?

Seats w a sharp ridge up rather than gradual rise are better for the tailbone. Mustang touring and sundowner are good but the sd is too soft for me and may push fw too much. Go to dealer and demo as many as can. Pad wont solve imo. You need space for tailbone.

I have an airpad on my Sporty, but don't have a tailbone problem. I agree with Jesse that a pad won't solve your discomfort. I'm not sure a gel seat will help either, you probably need plenty of decent padding, plus the right shape.
