Default Hammer 1250 kit

I just ordered a 1250 kit from hammer. Getting the good gaskets, and improved clutch kit. I already have a Hammer air cleaner and a power vision. I've been thinking about this for a while. Think I'm going to like the extra power. Don't know if I will leave the gearing stock or add a 1200 primary sprocket. Haven't decided yet.

I'm a bit behind you. I've already got brand new bare XL1200 heads,
going for the Crush porting on those with 30degree pistons and
Jackhammer 570 cams (like lower end torque). Already have
the XL1200 primary gear & chain as well as Eagle1 extra plate
clutch. So what remains is whether to wait for the 1275 kit to
hit the mainstream or just go ahead with the normal 1250 version.
Think I'm leaning on waiting on the 1275 since I 'like to be different'.

Yeah I am, I built Harleys in the 70s and restored British sport cars (Triumphs roadsters). Its not that difficult. I'm just old and take it slower these days. I am going with the 38 tooth primary gear and
the 96 link primary chain for better cruising. I have 600 sq feet of garage and all the tools I need. Oh yeah, I got some rocker lockers to install too.

I hear ya!. We live in Texas and the 'cruiseing' speed here is like 80+
so thats the reasoning for the XL1200 gearset and extra displacement.
I'm still wating on a wrist-pin extractor tool and some other misc parts,
then I'll be tearing into it myself. I see you use Powervision for
your ECM changes, I use Mastertune....

Keep us informed on the progress.

Thanks!

Good for you man! Best thing I ever did to my 883.

ETA: I left the gearing stock. I liked how quick the 883 moves compared to the 1200 gearing, even if not ideal on highways. Never bothered me. I like high RPM's on that bike anyways.
