Default First bike - is it a 1200?

New to the forum and about to buy my 1st bike.

Found this Sportster with 12,xxx miles for under 4K.
Guy says he bought it from someone who needed the money and he just wants to make a couple bucks off of it, Flipping it basically.

It's a 2007 883 and he was told a Screamin Eagle 1200 conversion kit was installed by original owner, but doesn't know how to confirm it.
Are there any markings that would tell if it really has the kit, without taking heads off?
It doesn't look stock, but that's all I can tell.
If it's a true Screamin Eagle, I would expect some sort of casting on it, correct?

Thanks cvaria

I guess I was hoping there was something that clearly stated 1200 somewhere on the jugs, but it looks this it hit or miss.

The bike is over an hour away and it would be nice if the seller could show with a picture that it's a 1200.

going to be pissed if I drive there to find out it's an 883.

@OP Under $4k is not a bad price....if it is still an 883, negotiate the price down and use the money to do it yourself and do it right.

@Cvaria - damn you are a resourceful guy. A master at searching this forum...lol

hang around long enough and you'll see everything over and over.

OP. take the bike to the nearest dealer and pay 100 for a pre-purchase inspection. they will tell you if it's a 1200 or not. if the seller is not ok with that... red flags

thanks again guys

Saw another thread before posting that mentioned the chopstick measuring method.
Just trying to find the "easy" way, but sometimes (mostly) there isn't one.

I like the idea of the pre-inspection.
Deal is sketchy anyway, because of the whole flippin' the bike thing.

If it doesn't work out, I have all off season to look. In western NY, so only about a month or so of riding left.

Really looking for a Nightster, but I thought if I could get a black 1200 for this price, then i could do exactly what I was looking for with a clean slate.

Blonde (grey) engine with black cylinders and heads. It's a 1200. NOBODY in their right mind would bother to put 883 jugs/heads back on an 883. That engine had blonde jugs from the factory, so I know they've been changed. Chances are, about 1,000:1, it's a 1200.
Checking the ignition mapping, may offer a clue, too. Maybe, not.

I'm putting silver 1250 jugs on my 883. That's what it came with and I want it to look stock.

I'm pretty sure it's a 1200 as well with the black heads, but the silver (blonde) exposed ends on the cooling fins are throwing me off.
There are several pictures of a similar setup without mention of the 1200 conversion.
That plus the seller doesn't know.

Going in a day or two for a look, but for the price I will probably take it either way.

Like I said, it is definitely not stock, and as mentioned by Scuba it would not be right to replace 883 heads/jugs with another set of 883's.
