No, i am not looking for off road tires. I am looking for something comparable to the winter/snow tires installed on 4 wheel vehicles.

I doubt you'll find any at all.

Has to be a market to justify making winter tires for motorcycles.
No call for such.

Thank you very much Matte for the details.
I think the dual sport off road tires are the only choice. I will look into them.

falling off a bike hurts... a lot. once those dual sport tires cake up with snow you are basically riding a rollerblade... be careful out there.

I tried riding a dirtbke in the snow once, it didn't work very well. A four wheeled ATV works very well.

There is nothing. There is no comparison to a 4 wheel vehicle. Your MC is a two wheel vehicle that depends on traction while leaning to complete a turn or curve in the road. The amount of tire making contact with the road is less than the palm of your hand. The ability of that small patch of contact to maintain traction without slipping is what prevents disaster.

I have been caught in snowy conditions, it is nothing to even consider on a regular basis. There is no street tire made that will give you sufficient traction on snow or ice. What you are considering is a very bad idea. Make other arrangements, and study up on the limitations of 2 wheel travel.
