There is an irony in that the engine which became the V-Rod started out life as a Buell engine, until H-D got their hands on it. It was then transformed from a lightweight sports engine to a custom slob. Great shame! Had Buell been able to make their last bikes with H-D made engines, instead of imports, they may still be with us. It was importing almost the entire bike and currency exchange rates that killed them off IMHO.

I am kind of with post # 10.

FWIW
I would not look forward to a 4 valve head and the added complexity and parts count.
However, I would look forward to a 6 speed transmission, with no cluck!
1250 piston increase (or any bore increase) might be OK from the current 1200.

I'm sure that sidevalve model K owners were happy with their bulletproof bikes and couldn't see the point of changing, and then ironhead owners probably felt the same about their bikes, but change came and we moved on from one perfect bike to the next perfect bike! There's nothing wrong with our current Sporties which an exciting replacement can't put right!

I wish I had one of the later 1956 KHK 883 high performance models . I had a chance to buy one cheap a few years ago. Should have bought it.
