I'm about to install a fuelmoto micro efi tuner on my XL1200. I see in the instructions I am to remove the O2 wires from the stock harness and cap them off with the included parts in the tuner. Does this mean the tuner will not automatically adjust for changes in altitude? I ride at 1000 ft above sea level here in Phoenix and up to 7000 ft in Flagstaff.
If it says to cap off the O2 sensors it's closed loop tuner that'/ set by what ever tech tunes it for you. If you're concerned about elevation changes look into an open loop design like zippers thundermax.
The FM micro is a piggy back system. I'm guessing the ECM will control for elevation changes and the O2 eliminators trick the ECM.
Best to call Fuel Moto tech support for the facts.
The O2 sensors just read your exhaust. You have a MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) that should still allow the ECM to compensate for elevation changes.
Thanks for the replies guys. I just finished the micro efi install and I'm elated!!!! Usually everything I touch goes to s@#&, but not this time. The bike runs great! Those guys at Fuelmoto sure know their stuff. Highly recommended.
