Default Do wheel types make a difference?

Hi guys. I have a 08' Nightster with the stock wheels, the old school spokes. I'm not really into the look. Do different type of wheels make any difference in handling and performance? I ride a lot in the canyons, twisties. So anything I can do to improve handling is a plus. Any info is appreciated

Carbon Fiber wheels will make the bike lighter, quicker, and handle better.

Mag wheels require less maintenance than spokes. You can run tubeless in mags. Mags are usually lighter. Its really personal preference. I know some people who think Harleys MUST have spokes... I prefer mags myself.

Thank you! Haha, you're right, some people get real hung up on the "Harley" look.

Wheel types will make some difference . The biggest handling improvement will come from your tires and suspension.

spokes look good and make the nightster look meaner. i swear they dampen bumps to. i just switch to cast wheels on my dyna and now every bump wants to hurt me.

mags/cast wheels handle better, in some cases are lighter (unsprung mass), less crap to sweat at tire changes/flats (rim strips tubes, etc...), less maintenance ...amongst other things. will change the look of your bike for sure.

Stock spokes

beefy spokes

cast wheels

The beefy spokes definitely looked meaner but, the leaking, tubes, strips and other stuff made me jump ship on spokes.

Like most, you missed the point of that thread. Its not about keeping it 'real' for the fanboys.
