Default 06 xl1200c rear brake pedal advice

my xlc is new to me but looks like it lived a hard life with its previous owner. it has very clearly been laid down and the main damage is to the rear brake pedal. Picked up another and going to replace it. it looks pretty straight forward but wanted to see if anyone has any input on this repair

Changing the rear brake pedal is straight forward. With forwards, it appears a lot easier. I have mids so the exhaust got in the way.

Two bolts and a cir-clip. Done.

One in the foot peg clevis (mounting bracket) that looks like a set screw in the clevis and one on the brake linkage-to-brake-pedal interface. The cir-clip is on the in-board end of the clevis.
I believe you have aftermarket forward-control extensions, but I'd guess they're a similar arrangement.

Yes. Blue Loctite. Some, may use purple (low strength) on the brake rod screw.
I guess there is one more fastener, if you're changing the foot peg, too. Don't get Medieval with the foot peg bolt. It's a friction thing, allowing the peg to fold up. You'll have fun lining up the spring washer, too. If you care, take note of the spring washer's orientation, during dis-assembly.
Clevis "set screw" (actually, more like a through-bolt) = 18-22 ft-lbs
Brake rod to pedal = 120-180 in-lbs
Cir-clip at end of clevis = try to get a new one in case you totally 'ef the old one up getting it off with a screwdriver and needle-nose pliers. Cir-clip pliers, work well.
Check the head on the fasteners. The brake-rod Heim joint bolt could be Torx. Couldn't say, with your, presumably, extended brake rod. Don't let a Torx head fool you into thinking it's an Allen (hex) head.
