master cyl - brake line
Bought a used 07 xl883. needs rebuild of master cyl-front. cannot break banjo bolt loose- can remove everything from handlebar. I bought the OEM rebuild kit for single disc- all things considered-is there a problem if I rebuild the piston in place, and clean the bore and finish with a flush and fill of DOT-4

it will be a pain in the **** to do it in place and you rin the risk of getting brake fluid all over you bike.
Bolt it up to the bars, then lean on that banjo with a socket (9/16 i think) like you mean it, slowly.

One of the things I learned many years ago was to tighten before loosening a bolt. If you have a torque wrench it works best. Try the factory setting first (25ft lbs I believe), then move it up a couple of lbs at a time until you get the slightest movement (breaking it loose), then back it out slowly as cvaria has already said. I like to loosen then tighten a few turns then loosen a few more on a stubborn bolt.
