Default Would i be able to use the HD detachable backrest for a solo seat with My Mustang solo seat

Hello, has anybody here used the HD detachable backrest for a solo seat with a mustang solo vintage seat for the 3.3 gallon tank? I would like to have install one one my bike, but HD and mustang has no info on their sights if it would be doable. thank you calipo

Assuming you are looking for a "bolt-on" solution, the simple answer is no.
The "HD detachable backrest" is really a set of detachable side plates for attaching a sissy bar to which you can add a backrest pad.
A sissy bar is not typically located right behind a solo seat, but further back on the bike.

However, Mustang makes solo & 2up seats with a rider backrest.

I was wondering the same thing. I know the sissy bar is too far back, but the OP might be talking about the detachable driver backrest Harley came out with last yr. I.ve stopped by the dealership a few times hoping they would have one on a bike, but so far no luck.

I use a mustang wide tripper solo with backrest (see signature pic). If I have a passenger, I use a passenger pillon with HD detachable sissy with backrest.

Not trying to hijack the thread but I wonder if the OP is asking about the Quick Release Rider Backrest (Part number 52300245 - http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...rider-backrest).

I'm sort of curious about the answer myself. Although the fitment blurb for this unit lists quite a few seats that are not compatible there is no mention of the Mustang solo seat.

Don't think that will fit with most Mustang seats. Our solos are generally fatter in back than stock, so alignment might be impossible.
