Engine Upgrades for the 1200
I have an 08 Nightster. Has anyone in here done any engine upgrades like the Zippers 1250cc kit? I'm thinking of doing that along with some headwork,Roller Rockers,Roller tappets and cams! My goal is 100HP(Reliable) at the tire on the dyno! Any info and opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I have almost $2000 in my 2000 and it makes a good 85HP at the rear wheel and I did all the work myself, it's going to cost you even more because of the computer and all the dyno time: that extra 15HP can get real expensive.
The extra 50cc isn't doodly, your going to need a bunch of head work and a lot of compression and some rather large cams and a real good tune to get a reliable 100HP at the rear wheel and hopefully your a good mechanic because you are going to have to build a precision piece.
I hope you ride like a maniac because that kind of motor makes all it's HP on the top end and if you don't then there's no need for a 100HP 1200 .

Well I'm new to the bike world although I did go to school for auto and diesel! Yeah I was thinking the same on the extra 50cc that it wouldn't be woth it either but was just curious if anone had done it on theirs! I don't usually ride like a retard but the group of guys I do ride with love to tear it up on ocation. I agree that it will take lots of headwork and cam! Who did you go through for your work? Did you have your heads flowed?

my buell 1200r with pipes, filter and race ecu should be pushing 95 rwhp per numerous articles. nightster 1200 is less hp than buell 1200 due to the heads difference, and this per hd mech. i would think to obtain that 100 hp that a 1250 upgrade would greatly contribute to it, considering you do head works, cam upgrade and ecu remap. just my .02

If you want a reliable 100hp, you might want to replace the stock crank as well. Nothing like blowing your crank apart on your way to 100 and the motor locking.... that was a bad day. The stock crank will hold small mods, but if you're pushing 100 hp, the shaft may not hold. Something to think about. If you do a full rebuild you can squeeze 150hp or more out of it!
