Hehh, well ok then... If you're that bored, find me a late model
Dyna Low Rider dual-disc 49mm front fork setup (trees/forks)

Why dont I use a Roadster inverted front end? Cause then it'd
look like a Roadster...

"Learning" and "Practice"...that's right ..."Exposure" (understand that your scratching the surface )

What did you learn? I would really would have been surprised if "out of spec". After all you only had 16k with no issues.

Did you watch them measure your pistons and then use the dial bore gauge? What did they say the piston-to-cylinder clearance and the taper (if any) was ?

What about the Rings? Using new ones? Got feeler gauges to check end gap?

So, do they let the customers change their own tires at "The Shop"

Doug is the man. that part of the shop is tiny. i'm pretty sure he would let you change your own tires, then charge you for being near the machine with your tire.

he pulled me back into his work area and he walked me through everything he did. explained why all was well with the jugs and pistons i bought him, most of it went right over my head. i heard "use cast iron rings" and "avoid kb pistons", he then told me to go replace the studs as cheap insurance.

i know there is easy the hammer package way but, i'm learning more this way. i've had to hush my inner bi*** several times. come 110 time. i'll probably ask %10 less questions. i'm already considering se-585s for the dyna in the mean time.

limits your brake options too. low rider front end might be harder to find than a street bob front end and just swapping the sliders:

black (45500273) or chrome (45500267).

i think the low rider rake is in the neck but, i could be wrong.

I'll deferr to someone more knowlegeable than I, but IMHO, no.

(steel wire, aluminum head/jug surface)

How 'bout some lacquer thinner & a razorblade scraper ?

Extremely careful razor guy myself. I would never wire wheel the gasket surface. A good razor scraper with some new blades and it really comes off in no time.

Best to get a set of 5 to 10 over pistons & rings, Hone the cylinders till the pistons just barely slide through the cylinders. Keep the whole thing very clean with brake cleaner (thanks HAMMER, read-up) be careful, the hones tend to "round" / "cone" the cylinder walls so you want to hone the center more than the top and bottom of the travel area.

Clean everything well, install the tight pistons, re-assemble the engine and ride as HAMMER suggests in 3rd gear, on and off the throttle to break-in the rings, shift down and decell the engine pulling oil into the rings.

Look up HAMMER on the net and do what thy say,it works.

Remember the last Indian!

Cheers,

Quoted from your header ... More "experst" ?? then again in the thread "Experts" ( many responses from the "experts" ) ... It seems as though you are inferring that no one has any expertise of this topic but you ... maybe I read it wrong?
