Default Don't you just hate it when that happens.

Working on my Sportster last week as I had a puncture, put the bike on the stand and got wheel off, so far so good, took it down to tire place, they changed the inner tube for me and got the wheel back home, as I was putting the wheel back on.

The poxy sportster feel over on the lift stand.

Damage

smashed hand grip, broken clutch lever and the poxy shifter rod bent.

Another £75 and now waiting on parts to turn up.

Morale of the story.

Put a strap on to make sure the bike doesn't tip over.

Sorry that happened....

On a lighter note, you Brits sure make me look up a lot of slang definitions.

Glad the bike did not fall on you...bike can be fixed. Live and learn.

I always place straps when I use a lift. But on a lesser situation, ever thought your kickstand was down but it wasn't?....think it happens to many, more than people would like to admit. It happened to me. Cracked my fairing windshield and scratched my SUV...arg. Live and learn.

Hope you can get back on the saddle soon.

I know its the first time it happened to me off the stand, its quite a good stand but it happened, and I bought a brand new XV250S years ago and I went to open the gate and the bugger fell off the kick stand, gutted to say the least, I've got many stories of bikes falling over or getting fairing ripped off by mate in a haste.

I am still mobile as I own two other bikes, but I was getting back into riding the Harley after having a long break from it.

Glad you fellas like British slang, we have 100s of swear/curse words, we have mastered that art .

Yep, lesson learned, never happened to me in 25 years of working on bikes, but I won't make that mistake again.

If it had fallen on my I might of got a week off work and saved myself a few quid.

Sorry about your bike, ouch. As for straps, I'd love to see some pics of how you guys attach them. I tried but was never really able to securely attach them, so I don't even bother with them.

Sportys have a very narrow frame and are top extremely top heavy with the wheels off.
