Default What needs to be done to put a 21 inch spike front wheel on mY 2015 superlow

Hi everyone,
pardon my ignorance but I know nothing about the mechanics and fitting things.

i have a 2015 superlow xl883l sporty and hoping someone could provide some guidance as What needs to be done to put a 21 inch spoke front wheel on mY 2015 superlow?

Unfortuantely I think my model is the only model that has a tiny 16" wheel. Compared to a 2015 iron or Seventy Two. I think my forks are wider.

i have basically changed the look of my bike to match a Seventy. I got all the parts of a mate who mechanically write his off.

The stock Seventy Two wheel does not fit due to my forks being wider.

please help! My modified bike from stock to replicate a Seventy two

Bleach White works good on white walls.

At minimum removing your front fender. You're talking about a 2" larger radius wheel plus whatever size tire you put on there. Better fork springs will help reduce the front end dive and potential for contact between your tire and frame. I think it can be done you just need to do some measuring to ensure overall clearances. If you decide to go this route I'll gladly take your existing wheel off your hands for a reasonable price.

Stock wheel on 2015 Superlow both 883 & 1200T is 18" x 3.5" bead width.

Superlows use radial tires also. I don't believe the front tire on the 72 to be a radial.

Would use a 48 laced wheel hub or V-Rod...same hub. This hub is wider than the so called narrow glide hub.
get a 2000-2009 front 21" wheel from a 883 custom.
Remove the spokes from the rim and hub using spoke wrench.
The 2000-2007 will require retro fit to 25mm bearings using a special shim available from H-D.
Lace the 21" hat section rim to the 48/VRod hub.
center the wheel in the front forks using 1" ID shim washers and some 1" SAE thicker washers.
Have two axle spacers made equal in length to the washer stacks. shim washers are available down to .010" thick,
shim the brake caliper so the rotor is centered between the brake pads with shim washers, smaller ID than axle shim washers, above.....
Install 21" bias ply tire to hat section rim with inner tube.
Job complete,

Get a set of narrow-glide triple clamps and a new fender.
If you can't raise the bridge, lower the truck.

48 and Vrod hubs are NOT the same...48 has 32 spokes (and also an asymetrically wider hub than the vrod/dyna midglide)

Vrod and midglide dyna are the same and 40-spoke

Agree that 48 introduced in 2010 front laced wheel is 32 spoker.
Found a side view of 48 and counted 16 spoke holes on one side of hub, 8 on one diameter and eight on another diameter. Also 48 is single disk rotor, while VRod is dual disk rotor.

Have the VRod hub on a granite table beside the 2000-2007 narrow glide XL hub.
Both hubs have identical flange width.
However, z VRod hub is .576 +/- wider than the XL hub.
The XL Super low which replaced the Custom has a fork tube center to center dimension of
8.5" , same as new late year,2016 , 1200 XLR
The 48 is 9.0" width
The Iron is the narrowest at 7.25" width.
Do not know what is considered mid glide width, but 2017 Dynas, Touring & Softtails range from 8.5" for the street Bob
to 10" for the breakout model.
21" aluminum contour style 40 spoke rims were also available as option on the customs up to 2009 compared to standard steel hat section 21" rim.
21" chromed steel H-D wheels from 2000-2009 customs are easy to find because of high demand for 19" cast wheel retrofit.
The 48 hub with 36 spokes with 21" rim would difficult to build because of the availability of the rim.
Buchanan Wheel in Azusa, CA can manufacture a 36 spoke, aluminum 21" rim or 40 spoke.
Have a 21"x 2.15", 40 spoke anodized aluminum Japan made rim in inventory, so this rim does exist.
Believe the VRod, 40 hole, laced hub would be the best solution for the 8.5" width Superlow
Retrofit to 21"
If the existing spokes from the 21" donner wheel are too short, longer nipples can made by Buchanan, but the donner spokes should transfer over to the VRod hub.
To my knowledge the H-D "Rocker" was the only bike fitted with 90/90-21 tire, all others including "72"were 100/90-21.
