Hey guys, new to the forum here an I have a question about my Nightster.
Alright so I have a 2010 Nightster 1200 an last year while at a little get together one of my buddy jumps on my bike who's never ridden an needless to say he no more than let the clutch out an dumped my bike in his front yard leaving a nice dent in my tank, folding my clutch lever around and bending my bars a little. Not to happy about it. Anyways when i let go of my bars now the front end starts to shake. The bike just turned 10k miles. Any ideas on what it could be? Wheel out of balance? Wheel bearings worn out? Any input would be great thanks!

My 07 has never been dropped. It rides smooth up towards 60 mph, however, if I loosen my grip and let the bike slow on its own, it has a vibration in the front that bounces the bars/wheel from 45 to about 30 mph then its smooth again. Holding the grips, there is no vibration. There is another vibration that shakes the bike between 70-75 and smooths again over 75. Trying to figure it out. So far everything looks good.
Anyways, about your bars ... if you are interested, I have my stock Nightster bars hanging on the garage wall collecting dust and they can be yours for shipping cost. send a PM if interested.

bagga, totally agree
The 2006 Dyna frame was stiffened with added weight to compensate for dynamic imbalance, since the lateral center of gravity is not inline with the frame center line.
The heavy mufflers on the right side helped the situation. Sputhe engineering likened it to having a bar bell sitting diagonally across the bike frame.
Sputhe designed and prototyped two vibration isolators to help absorb some of the vibration.
The instability was caused by side to side motion of the rear tire contact patch from the imbalance even on a smooth as glass riding surface.
The result of the instability caused the handle bars to wobble.
