prob another pully question
Hey I was wondering if anyone here has put the 29tooth trans pully on there 883? I have a 97 883 hugger. and for those of you who have was it worth it for you? I looked around here for a couple hours and never really found the anwsers I was looking for. and any other ideas that will make my bike a little more long legged will help also. thanks.

RE: prob another pully question
Not on a 883, but I've done the 29 front/55 rear (international rear) onmy 20001200 S.
My 883 is 1989 4spd and there's not enough room for a 29 on the trans, so I only have the 55 rear on it. It makes a quite a difference on the HWY and would easily pull the 29 front too if it would fit (hits starter)

RE: prob another pully question
Im almost positive it will fit. just wondering on how much of a difference it will make. it only like a $100 upgrade. as for the 55 tooth I think its 175 or more. anyone else got it was it worth it or were the results negligable?
Indeed it will. In fact, you could even go bigger on your bike. The 4spdsare alot different and a29 Super Max pulley doesn't fit without mods (future project). A factory 29 was never offered for the 4spds. The 29 will be noticeable over the 27, but not enough of what you are looking for, trust me!

RE: prob another pully question
well thanks for the info what I might do is put on the 29 see how that acts then plan on a 55 rear and new belt if I think it will have the torqe to pull it off. it is an 883 with hypercharger, and de-baffled exhaust (jet kit). so it has a little more get up and go than stock. I also saw a 30 tooth aluminum pully but dont know if that requires a new belt.

Heres a chart that relates to Buell sprocket variations, (speeds are theoretical) It might give you an idea of what to expect re speed differences between different pulley set ups
I ran the 27/61 setup on my bike for a while, but found it far too revvy for long trips on motorways ect. And have settled on the 27/55 which gives a little more on acceleration without denting top end cruising too much
Hope this is of some help
