Has 2008 seen the return of screamin eagle pipes & ac?
Hi,
Theo here from Adelaide Australia. I've just bought my first Harley a 2007 883xl, loving it so far. I had heard that screamin eagle pipes and air cleaners had been discontinues in 2007 but with the release of the 2008 line-up I see on the HD site that they are now offering both again for '07 and up Sportster.
Pipes could be a bit of a compromise from previous versions because they seem to introduce them as "New street legal" high-flow mufflers.

The SE stuff you see are the SE street performance parts which are EPA restricted and offer just a little more flow than stock, mostly just better sound. I've got a set of the the original SE (not for street use) slip ons on my 06 and side by side with the newer ones they're vastly different in sound and I would venture to say in performance too as the newer SEshave a catalystand o2 sensors in them. Cycle Shack used to make the old SE pipes and still have their own version which are cheaper so you might look into them. The SEII air cleaner is unchanged but is just an okay AC in my opinion. I have one on my bike and it breathes well but I think I may be switching to a Ness Big Sucker instead.

I figured that was the case,Cycle Shacks seem to be the way to go, unfortunately they're pretty hard to get here in Australia but I'll get some off US eBay. I'd love to geta set of the original SE pipes because I like the look of them with the singature, but from what I've read they only suit '06 bikes.
Have looked at the Ness Big Sucker but I want to keep the original cover so I'll probably go SE with on that.
Thanks for the info Matt.

I just bit the bullet and got a set of Cycle Shacks from ebay. I rang the dealer here and they wanted $460 for the '06 SE's whereas the CS I could get for $300 delivered (in Australian dollars). You guys in the US don't know how lucky you are paying the prices you do for this stuff, here it costs heaps more!
