Default Wondering about a hitch receiver m/c carrier

Any feedback, negative and positive, on the use of a motorcycle carrier that uses a trailer hitch receiver, for a XL-1200L. The bike has a "running weight" of 575 lbs, with the addition of a windshield, sissy bar and luggage rack it probably pushes the 600 lb. mark. My concern is the only carrier I have found, which works with a Class IV 2 inch receiver has a listed load limit of 600 lbs. Seems like, even if the idea had merit, the limit would be exceeded. I'd welcome thoughts on the idea, good or bad. Seems like a viable alternative to a trailer or hauling the bike in the truck bed. I'd be using a 1999 Ford Ranger if that comes into the equation. Anyone?

Those carriers are pretty much intended for lighter weight sport / dirt bikes. Not only does the Sporty exceed the hitch load capacity the down force on the hitch would far exceed the weight of the bike every time you hit a bump in the road. I would look at Plan B.

Too much tongue weight for a Ranger. Even if it wasn't why would you want your bike hanging off the back of your truck where it is more likely to get damaged? I'd much rather have it in the bed.
