It will either cut out or just feel like it won't go any more. 40 in first is probably about right. I've done that on an 883, but when you do, stuff tends to break/fall off if it is going to.
Everybody has a rev limiter in one way of another. Most are electronic. However, there's also a mechanical rev limiter. Spin it too high and it will blow up.
40 in first is pretty tight, makes you feel like the fillings are going to jump out of your teeth.
Yes, your scoot does have a rev limiter. I would suggest you NOT try to find it without first getting the motor balanced, unless you want to rebuild it. Just my $.02
Yep, you have one. I rode several hundred miles over the last few days along side an 2002 883. He hit the rev limiter a couple of times. You'll know it when you hit it.
I have an '06 and I have hit the rev limited a couple times. Bike cuts out, you feel like a idiot and shift.[&:]
That's pretty much what the dealer told me would happen when we had the discussion about shifting. I was told that when you reach that point, the engine only fires every other time???? Does that sound about right?
