Ifthe friction nut on the "enrichener" is too tight the cable might be stuck in the open position. I recently had the opposite happening. When I'd start the bike with the choke wide open, the engine vibration would allow the **** to work its way back in slowly. I tightened the nut and the problem went away...Maybe you'd have to loosen yoursa bit. Be careful, the nut is plastic.

It's the little black plastic nut right behind the choke ****. Be gentle, it's plastic.

I would check the cable for any kinks and that type of thing. It's pretty common to for the choke tension nut to need tightening, I hafta do that about every 3,000 miles. But it's difficult to imagine, how it would suddenly be too tight. Temperature will affect this. If it is adjusted correctly for hot temps, and you suddenly are in the COLD, it will need loosening,I doubt that to be the case this time of year.
