dropped now a copper colored leak

If you said that this leak was on the right hand side of the handlebars, I would definately say that this was brake fluid from your front master cylinder. If it is, be careful, because if the fluid sits on your paint, it will lift the paint. Additionally, if you continue leaking brake fluid, you may have a stopping problem.....

But you said it was on the left side...... Did you mean the left side of the handlebars, or the left side of the front master cylinder?

Yeah, I don't think he meant the master cylinder, but considering the severity of a leak there, I had to ask.

Besides, it's been a while since I pulled out Mr. Happy and took some pictures.

Well Josh, I dropped mine twice in the last two days. Once with a darn hill start/stop and once in the parking lot today. Shook my confidence a bit and husband is not a happy camper...but I refuse to give up! Back in the saddle. Still put over 200 miles on it today.
