Default Battery tender pig tail finally connected!!

Over the last 2 weeks there was a thread going on about the difficulty of getting to the neg. post of the battery to attach the neg. wire of the tender pigtail, and how it was easier & just as good to connect the neg. wire to the engine block where the battery neg. pole is grounded. Well, for me the block idea was out. I couldn't get my fat fist, or a wrench in that small area. So, I decided to at least try removing the battery so as to connect the pigtail directly to it. Well, the battery did came out, & getting it to do so wasn't such a big deal. I had already removed the seat, so before I tried to pull out the battery, I gently raised the wad of electrical cables that run across the top of the battery to the ignition module, & pulled on the battery at the same time, and easy as pie it slid right out. Getting a wrench on the neg. pole was a little tough, but it was do-able. Total time spent was approx. 45 minutes, from beginning to end, including putting my tools away, just as my dad taught me way back when the world was flat.

Ask your dealer how much they would charge to install the pigtail. That will put a smile on your face.

You need a flexible bit/socket driver shaft. I replaced my batter w/o one of these wonderful items and it took me an hour; but I had the flexible driver shaft when I hooked up the pigtail and that made it a lot easier. I still kept dropping the nut into the works but still, I'm a convert.

Box wrench with a slight offset worked fine getting to the engine block ground terminal.
