Default Headlight Change on Nightster

I'm sure there is a way, but I'm looking for suggestions...I would like to switch out the headlight on my nightster to one that doesn't require that tin above it to be mounted.

I do not like the look of the tin above the headlight

Thanks

By tin do you mean that adhesive pressed on tiny little plate thing? If so I agree cause mine blew off the other day while I was riding.

I'm not sure how different the Nightster is from the older Sportsters. They pretty much look the same throughout the years.I have a 1990 XL1200 and I've looked into this for a while now. That top cover is actually the mount. As far as I know there is no way to remove or change it without fabricating something and even then it would be difficult because you would have to use the same light because ALL your wiring is routed through your headlight,at least I think it stillis on the Nightster. You would have to bypass the headlight with the wiring and fabricate some kind of bottom mount for a new light.Definately opening up a can of worms.Mine has been bothering me for years although I've learned to live with it.....................for now

Hey TX, where did you get your turn signal relocation kit? I'm gonna get one for mine and I'm just trying to see what options I have.

Thanks

All you need to do is buy a new bottom mount light, ditch the visor mount setup and drill your lower tree to bolt the new light up to.

Yep, this is pretty much your only choice. I instead chose to replace with an HD light that uses the same mount position, but its chrome and has the eyebrow. I actually like it better. I can get a pic if you want.

When I got my Nightster, that was actually the first thing that I decided that I didn't like! Then the pipes, then the bars. Everything else is the cats a$$!!!
