How to make your Arlen Ness Big sucker air cleaner look stock
If you bought yourself an Arlen Ness Big Sucker like I did and then hated the idea of sticking an expensive ROUND cover over it, then try this:
I took a piece of scrap 3/16" flat steel and fitted it to the new A/C.....Note that each end is drilled and tapped 5/16"X18 to accept the old button heat screws that hold the stock A/C cover......The center hole is not threaded and large nuff to pass a 5/16" bolt thru(That bolt actually holds the bracket/adapter in place and screws directly into the hole already provided in the new A/C filter element).....The bolt just to the right of the center bolt is necessary to keep the cover from rotating due to vibration.....Drill and tap the adapter for the anti-rotating bolt, then drill a hole in the filter so that the bolt screws into the adapter but jabs into hole in filter.
When you are done it will look like this, but save you about 75 bucks and fool folks into thinking your are bone stock.
I know, I need to wipe off all the fingerprints, huh?

Thanks for noticing Kieth!I have a rainsock and I have drove in the pouring rain a couple time since I had the FW on the bike.
It is no joke if you ride without it you wont go far but with it on its not a deal.
You should take your mod over to the dyna section and post it and the pics in the mods under 50 bux thread, I am sure a lot of folks would appreciate it.

If you don't want to fabricate anything, then you can just use the metal plate from the stock air filter.
You have two options: (1) Is to hack up the plate to clear the hump. Here is a picture of that approach:
(2) You can keep the entire metal plate entact. All you have to do is add a 1/4 in. spacer between the air filter and metal plate. This is the fastest approach and the one that requires the least amount of work.
Picture of the spacers (I think they were 1/4"). I don't remember for sure.
