883c to 1200 conversion ???
I have a 2004 883c Stage 1 carb....
I would like to do a 1200 Conversion,,,
1. Where is a good place to order the parts needed on the internet
2. Houston, TX does anyone know a good shop to do the work, other than the MAN (HD Shop)
3. What is a good price to pay for the labor and parts...
4. I was told that the conversion could possibly mess up the bike..
Any advice would be greatly appreciated/

RE: 883c to 1200 conversion ???
This is an old debate here I went with Vtwin Kit which included Jugs Wiseco Pistons 9.5:1 with matching Hastings Rings.. Did no Head, Cam or Ignition change just went for the Big Bore gained all the Ponies I needed for about 500.00 doing my own wrenching .. However did change the valves seals which the Combustion chamber showed were probably lousy from from day 1 as only had 4800 miles on it ... close to 4,000 miles running like a top with no problems..

I did mine with a friend that's a wrench. I used the V-twin kit. I had already done the AC and the pipes. Then after that I added the ignition, I've got all the horses I need now. The kit was under $500, ignition $120. I made a hokey video of it and put it on YouTube.

RE: 883c to 1200 conversion ???
This is when I wish I knew for sure what exactly had been done to my bike before I bought it. I don't know for 100% certainty that has the 1200 conversion done and what was used.
Pretty sure the dealership said it was done and having a high flow air filter I have carb work done unless I'm just REALLY lucky and don't have mixture problems (I'm not that lucky so I know that isn't the case.)
So I'm not really any help to you in this area.

if you have an 04 or up sportster, do not go with the nrhs kit. You will likely have oil consumption problems.
I had the basic bread and butter conversion done by my local indie wrench. They charged me $1000 for parts and labor. I haven't ridden it yet since the conversion, as it's still winter here and the bike is stored (at the indie shop)
