I am not disputing that your wife didn't ride 2200 miles on a Sportster. I am only not believing that she did it doing 90+mph. In any case... thanks for the pics. Lets just drop this one. Its all good.

Hey YT, it's good to see another bike like mine, I rode mine 112 miles today just to get an Italian Sub sandwich. My wife bought this one for me in August, it rolled over 3,000 miles today.

the 1200 gearing is a little better suited for this type of riding because the gearing is a little higher. However, most of us would love to have a 6th gear.

I must be having a slo-brain night, I just realized that hers is an 883 and mine's a 1200 although I would have ended up with it even if it were an 883. When my wife saw the two tone green, that's the one we were having. You're right about the gearing W, mine is geared pretty tall for riding out of my back yard.

I ride a 2005 XL1200C in Florida everyday on the highways and backroads. I have no issues with the highspeeds or vibration. It must be your older bike. I know what you mean about the winds last week. That was an extreme front that came through. I did 100 milesstraightin the pouring rain last week. That kind of sucked.
When I travel far, I use a TBag mounted backwards so I can lean my back on it. Its a very comfortable ride with the help of my sundowner seat. I will never give up my sporty. I may ad a bigger bike just for the 2 up riding but I have no problems riding from Tampa Bay to the keys or north to Destin.

I dunno, I rode my 03 1200 c from denver to sturgis with 3 road kings and a street bob and for th 70-80 mile stretch between lusk and new castle we averaged about 105. I hung pretty good. The wind sucks other than that the sporty is cool by me for long hauls (not as long as yours but you get the point). I'm debating riding from Denver to Baltimore this summer to see my dad.

Hey jgcable I know what you are talking about . The 1988 doesnt have rubber mount motor either so the vibs are bad. Even my 2002 doesnt and riding mine at 80 for longer then 2 hours my A$$ itches and legs would go numb. the newer sportys are alot differant with rubber mount motors.
Sounds like you had a great ride though.

Jus fer ***** and grins.

I rode my 1200 C from St. Louis to Wichita and did 85-90 the whole way until the last 50 miles or so when I ran into some gnarly winds.

Piglet never over heated, never grunted, and never complained. She ran like a champ. My *** hurt like hell, but other than that... all was good.
